Abstract
500,881. Heating water ; heating buildings and vehicles. COCHRAN & CO., ANNAN, Ltd., and SIMPSON, H. M. Aug. 16, 1937, No. 22440. [Classes 64 (ii), 64 (iii), and 123 (ii)] In a boiler A supplying hot water or steam to radiators H and heated by hot gases passing through two separate sets of tubes C, B the main set C is supplied with the exhaust gases from an internal combustion engine E<2> whereas when the engine is out of operation the auxiliary set B is supplied with gases from a gas burner D. Gas is supplied to the burner from a portable container D2. The circulation in the heating system is assisted by a pump G<2>. The flow of exhaust gases to the tubes C is controlled by a valve F actuated by a thermostat F<2> in the boiler. The gas supply to the burner is controlled in accordance with the temperature of the water or of the exhaust gases.
