Abstract

A i r supply, heating. - The air supply for steam-boiler furnaces using solid or liquid fuel is heated by the exhaust gases from internalcombustion engines and also by the combustion products from the furnace. The figure shows a Yarrow type boiler having air-heating tubes E, F traversed by the combustion products from the furnace arranged at the sides of the steam drum A. Some of the tubes K external to the boiler casing communicate with the exhaust pipe J leading from internal - combustion engines and with the tubes E, F serve to heat the air entering at the inlet L and passing round the baffles L 'to the combustion chamber M.
