[Class 64 (i)] In supplying hot water from a heat-exchange unit A employing the heat-carrying medium, normally water, of a central heating system circulating from a boiler B through an expansion tank D and down through the radiators O and heater A, the latter is connected in parallel with the radiators O and with its major extent above the level of the radiators, so that on flow of cold water into the base b of the coil in the heater A in counterflow to the medium of the heating system, the stratification of the medium is not disturbed. Heated water passes from the coil in the heater A through a degasifying chamber F, and, if the gas is corrosive, the water is passed to the outlet c through a cooler G in indirect contact with cold water entering. A heat-insulated reservoir H for the heat-carrying medium may be connected in parallel with the heater A, which is also heat-insulated.
