In a domestic water heating system a boiler 1 circulates water in a primary circuit including a flow pipe 4, a heat exchanger 3 and a return pipe 5, the circuit being replenished through a pipe 12 from a tank 13 whilst flow and return pipes 14, 15 to radiators are connected to the pipes 12, 5 respectively. Water for tap supply is heated in the heat exchanger to which it circulates from a cylinder 2 through pipes 6, 7, the cylinder having a hot water draw-off 17 and a cold water supply tank 18. The heat exchanger consists simply of a jacket fitted around a pipe of the primary circuit at a convenient point and the arrangement enables a hot water supply system to be easily adapted as a central heating system also.
