Abstract

1,149,806. Hot water systems. A.S.W. APPARATENFABRIEK N.V. 7 Aug., 1967 [11 Aug., 1966], No. 36225/67. Heading F4A. In a block of dwellings with a common central heating system, each dwelling is provided with a domestic water heater comprising a heat exchanger 1 in which the domestic water is heated by the central heating medium. The heat exchanger comprises a coil 9, through which the domestic water flows, in heat exchange relation with the central heating medium flowing through the casing 1. The domestic water is supplied at 4 and flows through a filter 6 and a constant pressure valve 7 controlled by a diaphragm 12 responsive to the pressure in a Venturi 8 in the pipe leading to the coil 9. A valve 24 in a bypass across the central heating medium supply and return pipes 2, 3, is attached to the diaphragm 12 and shuts off the flow of central heating medium to the heat exchanger 1 until hot water is drawn from the domestic system. A thermostatic mixing valve 16 in a by-pass 14 maintains the water supplied to hot water taps 10 at a desired temperature. For a mixing tap 11, a cold water connection 18 is controlled by a cold tap 17. Further taps 19, 20, may be supplied with hot water, the tap 20 also having a cold water connection 22.
