392,219. Heating feedwater; steam boilers heated by waste gases. ARMSTRONG, WHITWORTH, & CO. (ENGINEERS), Ltd., SIR W. G., MATTHEWS, T. H., and KEWNEY, H., Scots wood Works, Newcastle-on-Tyne. Nov. 14, 1931. No. 31604. [Classes 64 (i) and 123 (ii).] Feedwater heated in jackets 19 around the exhaust pipe 10 of internal combustion engines is led into the feed pipe 24 through a number of branch pipes 19a, which are provided with valves 25 to regulate the temperature of the water according to the output of the engines. The exhaust is conducted into the side flues of a return tube boiler. The feedwater may pass through heaters 14 in the boiler uptake flues 6, 7 before entering the jackets around the exhaust pipe.
