Abstract

351,077. Heating feedwater. MURISON, J. S., 96, Taff Embankment, Cardiff. Nov. 18, 1930, No. 5467. [Class 64 (i).] Feedwater is heated partly by reheated exhaust steam from main engines and partly by reheated exhaust steam from auxiliary engines. Exhaust from main and auxiliary engines 17, 23 is passed through reheaters in the path of gases from the boiler furnaces and then through tubulous feedwater heaters 12 . . 16 arranged between the feed pump 10 and the boilers 36. The main engine exhaust passes through the first two feed heaters 12, 13 and is then led into the condenser 21. At starting, a valve 40 in the exhaust pipe 18 is opened to allow the exhaust to flow directly into the condenser, a stop valve 40a in the pipe being closed.
