Abstract

384,832. Feedwater regulators for steam boilers. SULZER FR—RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. Jan. 25, 1932, No. 2195. Convention date, Feb. 7, 1931. [Class 123 (ii).] The quantity of water supplied to each tube 4 of a number of steam generating tubes arranged in parallel is controlled in accordance with the temperature or other condition of the steam in the steam delivery pipe 5, and also in accordance with the quantity of water flowing through the tube. The supply of pressure fluid to a servomotor 10 operating a valve 11 in a steam generating tube is controlled by a sliding valve 20, which is moved over ports in a cylinder 16 by a lever 18 connected at one end to a piston 23 moved in its cylinder in accordance with the difference in pressure between the inlet and outlet ends of the steam generating tube, and at the other end to a piston 15 which is acted upon by fluid pressure varying in accordance with the variations of the temperature in the steam pipe 5. The tension of the spring acting on a piston 23 is adjustable by hand to suit the feed requirements of each generating tube. The valve 11 may be arranged in the evaporating part or at the delivery end of a tube.
