373,296. Generating steam by reduction of pressure. JEZLER, H., 10, Stockerstrasse, Zurich, Switzerland. Feb. 27, 1931, No. 6235. Convention date, March 5, 1930. [Class 123 (ii).] A high-pressure steam generator comprises a water-heating section 1 and an evaporating and superheating section 2 connected through a spring-loaded throttle valve 3 controlled by the speed governor of the engine to which the steam is supplied. The products of combustion from the pulverized fuel or oil-fired furnace 7 in the water-heating section pass through the tubes 8 of the evaporating section and the feedwater heater 6. The feedwater heater communicates through tubes 11, 12 with the feed-pump 5 and the water-heating section 1, and the feedpump is supplied with steam through the pipe 18 and with feedwater through a pipe 9 the flow through which is controlled by a spring- loaded piston in a cylinder subjected to the boiler pressure through a pipe 19 connected to the feedwater heater. When the pressure in the boiler exceeds a predetermined amount, the piston rises, uncovers the water outlet pipe 20, and shuts off the flow through the pipe 9. The regulator in the pipe 9 may control the supply of steam to the feed-pump. Electrolytic or electro-osmotic fur removers may be provided in the feedwater heater and the water-heating section.
