271,848. Muchka, J. May 25, 1926, [Convention date]. Right to Patent relinquished. Automatic gear. - When the pressure in a locomotive or like boiler falls below a certain point, a pressure regulator 28 allows steam to pass from a highpressure boiler formed by tubes around the firebox through a pipe 25 and a smoke-tube superheater 26 to a high-pressure engine, which exhausts through a pipe 30 into the main boiler at about the normal pressure therein. Water drawn from the main boiler by pump 19 driven from the engine is forced into the high-pressure boiler through a smoke-tube heater 22. Cold feed is supplied to the main boiler by pumps 11, 12 driven from the engine. The low-pressure steam is passed through a smoke-tube superheater 34.
