Abstract
1,098,885. Heating steam boilers by steam. BABCOCK & WILCOX Ltd. [April 15, 1965, [April 17, 1964], No. 16118/64. Heading F4A. Steam generating plant comprises a low pressure boiler 4 heated by high pressure steam from the steam and water drum 1 of a high-pressure boiler, there being valve means 7 to control the rate of flow of high pressure steam in response to the demand on the low pressure boiler, 4. The high pressure steam from line 2 condenses in the horizontal U-tubes 3 of the low pressure boiler 4 and is returned through line 5. The low pressure steam so generated for use in oil burners or soot blowers is delivered through ducts 6 and is superheated if needed. The valve 7, situated in line 2 or return line 5 responds under the action of device 8 to changes in low pressure boiler steam pressure and/or rate of flow. A main turbine 12 may be connected in parallel with the low pressure boiler.
