698,788. Regulating feedwater. SULZER FRERES SOC. ANON. March 18, 1952 [April 17, 1951], No. 6940/52. Class 123 (ii) [Also in Group XII] In a forced-flow steam boiler comprising parallelconnected steamgenerating tubes 1 - 4 which have a common feed-water supply pump 5 and discharge into a steam collector 6 with outlet 7 leading to a superheater, not shown, temperature - sensitive impulse transmitters 9 - 12 are associated with the tubes, at points in the latter where the steam is converted from the saturated to the superheated state, for regulating the whole or part of the feedwater supply. Alternatively the fuel supply is regulated. The transmitters 9 - 12, respectively, are connected through impulse pipes to bellows 15 -18 in mechanism 13 consisting essentially of a spring-biased pivoted lever 21 which is mounted in bearings 20, is connected at one end by a rod 22 to a valve, not shown, controlling the regulator 8 of the feed pump 5 through an impulse pipe 14, and is fitted at the other end with a cross-bar 19 adapted to be contacted only by the bellows, 17 say, associated with the transmitter at the highest temperature, so that the regulator 8 is actually controlled by this transmitter. In a modification, groups of steam-generating tubes subjected to approximately the same working conditions have a common transmitter.
