Abstract

482,901. Steam superheaters. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., and WOOD, J. E. Oct. 10, 1936, No. 27550. [Class 123 (iii)] To prevent excessive fluctuation in steam temperature, superheating plant which comprises an intermediate desuperheater 10 between superheating elements 2, 3, includes also means for mixing with the final steam a small amount of lower temperature steam or water in dependence on the final steam temperature. A pipe 17 delivers saturated steam from the boiler drum 1 into the delivery pipe 9, or into the superheated steam header 7, in amount controlled by a valve 19 operable by a controller 15 also regulating the proportions of steam flowing through the desuperheater and a byepass 11 as governed by a thermostat 16. Water from the drum or partly superheatedsteam from pipe 20 may replace the saturated steam. The connection between valve 19 and controller 15 may include a lost motion or idle travel device to retard the action. Specification 394,417 is referred to.
