Controlling superheat. -A regulated portion of the steam on its way to a, superheater 6 placed between the tubes of a, water-tube boiler is passed through an auxiliary superheater 8 placed behind the main superheater in the path of the furnace gases. The valve 9 controlling the quantity of steam passing through the auxiliary superheater may be operated by hand, or by a thermostat 10 in the steam distribution pipe 7.
