Abstract
404,125. Steam superheaters. SUPERHEATER CO., Ltd., and WOOD, J. E., Bush House, Aldwych, London. Nov. 15, 1932, No. 32316. [Class 123 (iii).] In a superheater of the kind in which, in order to maintain the steam delivered at constant temperature, the superheater is made in two sections 1, 5 through which the steam may pass in series, the final section 5 being supplied with steam directly from the inlet through a branch 6 under the control of a valve 7 operated by a thermostat 8 at the outlet, the cross-sectional area of the primary section 1 is such that when, at the maximum load, the byepass valve is fully open, the velocity of flow through the primary section will not fall below a predetermined velocity about equal to that through the final section, thus preventing overheating. The final section has, as usual, a cross-sectional area giving a predetermined velocity of steam flow at normal load.
