Abstract

398,374. Steam-power plant. SULZER FR’RES SOC. ANON., Winterthur, Switzerland. Dec. 3, 1932, No. 34272. Addition to 398,061. [Classes 110 (iii) and 122 (iii).] A modification of the means for regulating a steam power plant as described in the parent Specification wherein the steam generator is so regulated in accordance with the energy content of the feedwater accumulator that during normal working the energy content of the accumulator tends to be maintained in an intermediate zone whose mean value lies substantially between the maximum and minimum values. A steam generator 1 of small capacity supplies a prime mover 2, the condensate being delivered to an accumulator 4. The condensate is heated by heaters 10, 11 supplied with bled steam, the quantity of which is controlled by a governor 17, which also controls the feedwater inlet 20, the furnace 19 and the damper 21. The feedwater inlet 20, furnace 19, and damper 21 are also controlled by means 18 responsive to the temperature of the accumulator. Fig. 2 shows similar lay-out but in which the bled steam is delivered to the top of the accumulator 4 and condensate is supplied to a ported ring 32 in quantities depending upon the pressure in the accumulator. The main feed supply to pipe 23 is controlled by the governor 17 and means 34 responsive to the temperature of the live steam, and additional feedwater is supplied through pipe 25 and controlled by the temperature responsive means 34. A throttling device 35 controls the flow of steam to maintain constant pressure in the generator.
