Abstract
234,093. Siemens - Schuckertwerke Ges. May 13, 1924, [Convention date]. Controlling superheat.-In a steam generator in which steam is generated at critical pressure, throttled down to working pressure and superheated, the feed-device and the firing and throttling members are so controlled automatically that the pressure in the generator is maintained near the critical pressure, and at all stages, the temperature is maintained at such a value that an unstable separation of steam and liquid cannot occur. The operation of the feed pump 1 of a boiler 2 supplying steam through a superheater 4 to a turbine 6 is controlled by a device 13 acted upon by the steam pressure. The supply of fuel to the furnace 10 is controlled by a thermostat 15 in the steam pipe. The throttle valve 3 between the boiler and the superheater is so controlled by a pressure operated device 11 that when the pressure decreases the valve is opened, and when the pressure rises the valve is closed. The throttle valve may be controlled by the pressure in the generator.
