Abstract

352,074. Critical pressure boilers. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.- GES., Siemensstadt, Berlin. April 4, 1930, No. 10809. Convention date, April 29, 1929. [Class 123 (ii).] In a critical pressure boiler plant 1 supplying steam to an auxiliary engine 3 driving the feed pump 7, the auxiliary engine exhausts to the main engine 4 by way of a superheater 13, and a pipe-line 5 containing a regulating valve 6 is provided to byepass the auxiliary engine. The auxiliary engine may also drive an electric generator 8 which operates on the same network 9 as the generator 10 driven by the main engine. A governor 11 of the engine 4 also controls the steam generation. Valves 15, 6 are pressure controlled, the valve 6 opening when an extra supply of steam is demanded by the engine 4. A governor valve 14 controls the auxiliary engine. In modified arrangements, valve 6 is regulated by a governor driven by the main engine, or the delivery pressure of the pump 7 controls the valve 14 or the valve 6. The valve 14 may be pressure controlled and the valve 6 acted upon by the load on the generator 8.
