Abstract
346,627. Turbine plant. MASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON, Oerlikon, near Zurich, Switzerland. July 7, 1930, No. 20573. Convention date, July 10, 1929. [Class 110 (iii).] Relates to a steam turbine plant in which a main turbine 1 drives a generator 2 which supplies a main circuit 3, and in which a preheater turbine 6 drives a generator 7 which serves mainly to supply the circuit 8 for the auxiliary equipment. The auxiliary turbine is constructed so that its output is larger than that required for the auxiliary equipment, and during normal working the surplus output is supplied to the circuit 3. When the plant is working normally the turbine 6 is driven by steam drawn from the turbine 1 by a tapping pipe 5. When, however, it is driving only auxiliary equipment, steam is taken from the live steam main 15 through a pressurecontrolled reducing valve 17, a non-return valve 16 being provided in the pipe 5. The arrangement of the condensate preheater 10, 11 may be varied.
