Abstract

Axial-flow type; motor power plant; working- fluid supply.-In a motor power plant comprising a main turbine M and an auxiliary turbine A, the exhaust steam from the auxiliary turbine is delivered through special nozzles D into an intermediate stage of the main turbine. The nozzles D are so designed that they work with a pressure ratio equal to or greater than the critical value over a considerable portion of the range of working conditions. In this manner the exhaust pressure of the auxiliary turbine is to a large extent rendered independent of the pressure at the intermediate stage of the main turbine into which it is delivered so that the conditions in the auxiliary turbine may for a large range of load of the main turbine be practically independent of that load. Instead of the concentric arrangement of the nozzles D with the ordinary nozzles a segmental arrangement may be adopted, and although the turbines shown are of the impulse type the invention is not limited thereto.
