Compound &c. engines.-In multi-stage motor power plant comprising more particularly steam turbines h, m, n, there is provided for the higher pressure stages h an auxiliary condenser c<1> which can be connected and disconnected according to whether it is desired to work this section in series with the other sections m, n or independently. Valves r, s, t, u are provided together with a main condenser c<2> and steam generators k<1>, k<2> for the supply of steam at different pressures to the different sections, which may thus work singly or together.
