Abstract

196,910. Akt.-Ges. Brown, Boveri, et Cie. April 26, 1922, [Convention date]. Working-fluid supply; regulating.-In turbines working with superheated steam and into which at high loads live steam is admitted, without passing through the first stage or stages, this additional steam is less superheated than the main steam so as to avoid thermal distortion of the casing &c. For example, the additional steam which is admitted at high loads to an intermediate stage of the turbine a by the usual valve e does not pass through the superheater c for the main steam. In a modification, the additional eteam is passed to a low-pressure turbine arranged in a separate casing and on the same or a different shaft from that of the high-pressure turbine. The additional steam may pass through a part of the superheater; it may be cooled before admission to the turbine by, for example, injecting water therein, or by using it as a means of intermediate superheat for the main steam.
