Abstract

390,448. Gas turbine plant. AKTIEBOLAGET MILO, 32, Kungsgatan, Stockholm. Oct. 24, 1932, No. 29698. Convention date, Oct. 24, 1931. [Class 110 (iii).] In a gas turbine plant, particularly for ship propulsion, extra power is obtained by clutching-in an additional compressor. The Figure shows two double-rotation turbines 1, 2 working in series. The turbine 1 drives compressors 3, 4, and the turbine 2 drives generators 5, 6, and a compressor 8. An additional compressor 7 may be clutched to the shaft of the generator 5, in which case the normal air inlet is closed by a valve 20. The air passes in series through the compressor 7 (when in use), compressors 8, 3, 4, air preheater 14, combustion chamber 16, turbine 1, combustion chamber 18, and turbine 2. A modification is described in which a single-rotation axial-flow turbine is used.
