Abstract
586,564. Gas turbines ; air compressors. HALL, J. S., JENSON, G., and METROPOLITAN-VICEERS ELECTRICAL CO., Ltd. Feb. 11, 1942, No. 1847. [Class 110 (iii)] The outer rotor of a contra-rotational gas turbine or air compressor is built up of blades 3, 5, 7, Fig. 1,.carried by outer foundation rings 3a, 5a, 7a having axially disposed flanges 9 by which they are secured to distance pieces 11. The inner rotor may be similarly constructed or be, as shown, in accordance with Specification 586,562. In a modification, only one row of rivets 14, Fig. 2, is used for each blade ring, the distance piece 13 being enlarged at 13b to enclose the foundation ring. Specifications 586,552, 586,553, 586,561 and 586,563 also are referred to.
