Abstract
652,591. Turbine blades. SVENSKA TURBINFABRIKS AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROM. Dec. 16, 1948, No. 32587. Convention date, Jan. 27. [Class 110(iii,)] [Also in Group XXII] In a blade ring of a radial-flow, elastic fluid turbine or compressor, the ends of the blades 1 remote from the supporting disc 5 are rigidly connected to a bond ring 2 while the opposite ends of the blades are individually pivoted to an annular flange 6 of the supporting disc. The annular flange has inclined grooves 7 into which the roots of the blades are fitted, the concave surfaces of the roots being ground off to permit this, and rivets 9 are passed through holes in the flange and blade roots to form the pivotal connection. The roots of the blades may alternatively have bulbous ends 11, Fig. 5, which fit into a correspondingly-shaped groove in the annular flange 6, the roots being entered through enlarged holes 13 which are closed by filling pieces after the blades have been moved circumferentially through half a pitch. Sufficient clearances are provided so that the blades may pivot with respect to the main axes of inertia of the blade profile.
