908,748. Turbine rotor blades. MASCHINENFABRIK AUGSBURG-NURNBERG A.G. Sept. 15, 1960 [Sept. 16, 1959], No. 31868/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 110 (3). In an axial flow turbine, each rotor blade has a radially outer portion so twisted that the working fluid leaving this portion obeys the law of free vortex flow, namely C U .r = constant, and a radially inner portion formed by parallel generating lines so that the working fluid leaving this portion obeys, at least approximately the relationship C U .r <SP>cos2</SP>α<SP>1</SP> = constant, where C U is the peripheral component of the absolute velocity of the working fluid, r is the radius from the turbine axis of the blade portion and α 1 the angle between the direction of blade velocity and the inlet flow direction of the working fluid. The stator blades are preferably twisted over the same radial extent as the rotor blades, but may be twisted over their full length.
