Abstract

641,104. Gas turbines. BUCHI, A. Aug. 7, 1947, No. 21685. Convention date, Aug. 13, 1946. [Class 110(iii)] Working fluid enters through three pipes 6 into three tangentially arranged chambers 15 located radially outward of the turbine. The flow in these chambers is in a direction opposite to that of the rotation of the turbine. It is guided to the blading by substantially flat vanes 4 between steeply inclined and slightly curved walls. The flow through the rotor blading 2 is inclined towards the turbine axis and the turbine is followed by a diffuser 9 defined by two divergent conical walls 12, 14 and divided into three parts by cross-walls 13. A further diffuser 10 similarly divided turns the flow to an outlet 11 or may continue it in an axial direction as shown at 11'. The vanes 4 may be extended outwardly to bring the inlet edges into the radial plane containing the outlet edges. An axially directed diffuser 11<SP>1</SP> may have an inner wall provided by a part which is axially adjustable to vary the value of the diffusers.
