Abstract

1424552 Turbines CARRIER CORP 21 Feb 1973 [6 June 1972] 8413/73 Heading FIT A gas turbine has a diffuser tube 14 which is extended to define with a concentric nose piece 25 an annular working fluid inlet passage 30 to the integral rotor blades 23, the nose piece being mounted in the tube by two bars 35, 36 passing through apertures in the tube and nose piece, and being mounted in a block 40 mounted on the nose piece in order to flex the bars axially at the nose piece to eliminate vibration but allow for thermal expansion of the bars. As shown, the block 40 is mounted by a nut 45 on the nose piece. The nut 45 may be replaced by a sleeve nut (45'), Fig. 3, (not shown) extending inside the nose piece. The rods are retained at their ends by lashing wires 50. The bars 35,36 extend in angular relation to one another preferably perpendicularly. The turbine may form part of a turbo supercharger unit.
