Abstract

199,374. Erste Br³nner Maschinen- Fabriks-Ges. June 17, 1922, [Convention date]. Power - generating systems; compound engines.-In a plant of the type in which steam is supplied at different pressures to the stages of an engine or a turbine and for heating purposes, &c., by a low-pressure generator and a high-pressure generator, the steam and water spaces of the generators being interconnected, the generators are independently heated and the high-pressure stage of the motor does not exhaust into the low pressure generator. Fig. 2 shows a plant with a high-pressure engine or turbine o and a lowpressure engine or turbine c. A high-pressure boiler b and a low-pressure boiler a supply the engine o through controlling-devices g, e. Steam for heating, &c. is led from the engine by one or more leads i and from the generator a through a throttling-device w. Sudden demands for steam can be met by passing steam or water or both from the generator b to the generator a through pipes k, m with controlling-devices l, n. On decreasing load water may be passed from the generator a to the generator b through pipes r, t provided with a rotary pump q. The steam spaces of the generators a, b may be connected to an intermediate storage vessel. In some cases the water spaces also of the generators may be connected to the storage vessel, rotary pumps being provided in the leads. The high-pressure generators may be rapid generators and the low-pressure generators may be heated by waste gases.
