Abstract
207,410. Baumann, K., and Metropolitan-Vickers Electrical Co., Ltd. Jan. 4, 1923. Motor power plant. -Relates to a three stage steam turbine having a high-pressure stage and a lowpressure stage on one shaft and an intermediate stage and a lowpressure stage on a second stage and connections to permit the division of the installation into two two - stage turbines, the high-pressure stage exhausting directly to a low-pressure stage and high-pressure steam being introduced directly to the intermediate stage, and consists in providing, for the two stage working, an additional high-pressure stage with segmental admission in the casing of the intermediate stage and constructing the blading &c. so that when high-pressure steam is expanded in this additional stage it reaches the normal intermediate stage at a temperature practically that obtaining in the low-pressure stage and consequently little or no work is done by it in the intermediate stage. The rotor wheel 28 of the additional high-pressure stage is enclosed by walls 35 except for the part adjacent the segment of nozzles 26.
