Abstract
447,945. Steam turbines. MEINING- HAUS, U., 4, Margaretenplatz, M³lheim, Ruhr, Germany. April 12, 1935, No. 11384. [Class 110 (iii)] In a radial - flow turbine plant, the low pressure blades in the wet steam region are so arranged that the relative circumferential speed of the co-operating blade rings is less than 85 per cent of the steam velocity in the blade rings. In Fig. 2, the generator shaft 3 as mounted on its left-hand end a highpressure, single-rotation, radial flow turbine, the exhaust from which passes by a pipe 12 to a double-rotation turbine 13, 14. The shaft 4, which also drives a generator, is arranged to run at half the speed of the shaft 3, and has mounted on its right-hand end a low-pressure turbine 18a, Fig. 2a, which receives, through a pipe 20, part of the exhaust from the double rotation system 13, 14. The remainder of the exhaust from this system passes through a single rotation system 18, 19. Instead of being provided with a turbine as shown in Fig. 2a, the right-hand end of the shaft 4 may be arranged to drive auxiliary machinery.
