359,184. Steam &c.turbines. AKTIEBOLAGET LJUNGSTROMS ANGTURBIN, 17, Võstra Trõdgardsgatan, Stockholm. Oct. 6, 1930, No. 29882. Convention date, Oct. 25, 1929. [Class 110 (iii).] In a multi-bladed radial flow turbine which may be of the oppositely-running rotor type, the blades 29 in the outermost ring 10 are made wider in a radial direction than the blades in the inner rings and their inlet edges are rounded off as shown in Fig. 4. The blades in the ring 10 may be arranged for radial flow only, or may be arranged to divert steam to axial flow blades such as 20. Numerical values are given for the relation between the number of revolutions per minute of the outer blade ring and (1) the radial width of the outer blade ring ; (2) the pitch of the blades and the area of the outlet section for steam in this ring ; (3) the axial length of these blades and the area of the outlet section for steam ; (4) the axial length of the blades ; and also (5) the relation between the pitch of the blades and their radial width.
