Abstract

387,766. Steam tnrbines. YOUNG, B. V., Ottway's Lane, Ashtead, Surrey. Oct. 13, 1931, No. 28453. [Class 110 (iii).] In an inward or outward radial-flow turbine, blades 29 are formed in the bottoms of annular recesses in the inner faces of two rotor discs 18, 19 which embrace a correspondingly shaped stator disc 12. Sufficient clearance is provided between the rotor and stator to permit the passage of steam from one ring to the next and the steam may be guided by radial grooves in the stator walls. All the rings have the same number of buckets. The position of the rotor may be adjusted axially by screwed discs 32, 33 co-operating with bushes 15, 16 which are held from rotation by keys 35. In a modification the disc 12 is a part of the rotor and the steam passes from inlet to outlet of the rotor without interaction with any stator parts.
