433,800. Turbines. ZERKOWITZ, G., 8, Giselastrasse, Munich, Germany. March 3, 1934, No. 6846. Convention date, March 24, 1933. [Class 110 (iii)] Gases are expanded through a turbine, doing work, and also for the purpose of cooling the gases which are used in a cooling plant. In the arrangement shown, gases may be admitted through a pipe 2, pass through a nozzle 3, and blade ring 4 to an exhaust 6, or the direction of flow may be reversed. Insulation material 1, 15, surrounds the turbine casing. The turbine shaft 10 supports gearing or a driven machine in a casing 11. Bearings 13, 14, are provided, the rotor 5 being at a considerable distance from the bearing 13. The rotor may be cone-shaped, the blade ring extending beyond the end of the shaft. Several stages of blade rings may be arranged on the rotor. The shaft is constructed of chromium nickel steel, and the rotor and blading of aluminium or an aluminium alloy.
