Abstract

212,010. Yorston, J. K., and Ford, C. H. Dec. 22, 1922. Reversing. - In a reversible turbine of the kind comprising rotor and stator blades which are formed in one part C of their length for forward driving and in the other part D for reverse driving the blades are offset laterally at E between the two portions C, D, the offsets overlapping to form a continuous ring as shown in Fig. 3. Check rings F may be sweated to the offsets or may be constituted by the offsets themselves, these having extensions which are ground to the correct dimensions. When blades of this type are used in multistage turbines they are fitted to the high and intermediate pressure stages only, and means are provided for educting the exhaust from the intermediate stage so that the low pressure section revolves idly.
