Abstract

Impeller blades.-The runners and impellers of hydraulic turbines and pumps are formed with vanes aranged in groups, each group having the same axial disposition and comprising a number of vanes, the leading edges of which are out of alignment. The object of the arrangement is to cause a smooth flow between the vanes and may be obtained by the employment of groups of vanes diminishing in size as shown in Fig. 3, by groups of like vanes, as shown in Fig. 4, and by groups the corresponding vanes of which are differently inclined in adjacent groups. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 9, the vanes V<1>, V<2> constituting the groups are made relatively displaceable by mounting them on separate hub-sections 31, 32.
