Abstract
160,474. Wareing, J., and Hill, A. Aug, 1, 1919. Impeller blades.-Vanes 2 are cast with one or both discs of the pump drum and supplementary vanes 3 are formed with the principal vanes and arranged so that the end of each supplementary vane approaches the end of the next principal vane, thus leaving an outlet 8 for the liquid impelled from the drum. A number of chambers are formed in this construction. The area increases from the section 6 - - 6 where the liquid enters to the central section 7 - - 7, and then diminishes to the section at the outlet 8 where the sectional area is less than that of the inlet 6 - - 6. In a modification, Fig. 3, an outlet 9 is provided in each supplementary vane and the areas of the two outlets 8, 9 combined are less than that of the inlet.
