Abstract
796,599. Centrifugal pumps. ASK, E. J. March 24, 1955 [March 25, 1954], No. 8565/55. Class 110 (1). In a centrifugal pump, the impeller blades 2 are rearwardly curved and are tapered and shaped so that the distance between adjacent blades decreases progressively towards the outlet end of the flow passages, and the surface 3 of each blade continues beyond the outlet end of the flow passage formed between it and the next blade, in a curve which becomes progressively more nearly tangential to a circle of rotation. The ends 4 of the blades impart a radial thrust to the liquid as it leaves the impeller. The walls of the casing 7 converge outwardly as shown.
