Abstract

587,509. Centrifugal pumps &c. WHITTLE, F. Dec. 19, 1939, No. 32476. [Class 110 (i)] In a centrifugal pump &c. the inlet has a number of fixed guide vanes 8 and rotating guide blades 2A, which may be formed by bending the impeller blades 2 in an axial direction. The vanes 8 are fixed to the sides of the casing by lugs 8A and to a number of curved guide rings 7 at the lower edges. They are curved as shown in Fig. 2 so as to impart a whirl to the -entering fluid. The blades 2A have an increasing pitch from the root radially outwards.
