Abstract

594,537. Centrifugal pumps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and FORSLING, B. E. G. Sept. 18, 1944, No. 17776. Drawings to Specification. [Class 110 (i)] The exit edges of the impeller blade of a helico-centrifugal pump are at an angle to the axial direction and the flow through the impeller is such that the resultant of the exit axial velocity and the exit tangential velocity is normal to the exit edge. The exit axial velocity may increase from the end of the exit edge nearest to the inlet and the exit diameter is correspondingly increased to secure a uniform volume flow at all points of an exit edge. The blades may also have the characteristics set out in Specification 594,538.
