Abstract

1382108 Centrifugal compressors COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 11 April 1972 [13 April 1971] 16711/72 Heading F1C In a supersonic centrifugal compressor rotor 3 comprising double disc impeller 6 having radial blades 9 and a rotating diffuser 10 rotates within a volute casing 1 having an axial inlet 2, the volute diffuser 11 being extended by a diverging rectilinear nozzle. The volute and nozzle have smooth walls and combine such that a recompression shock wave is set up in the region of the cut-off. The rotor 3 has an inducer 5a and is provided with auxiliary blades 13, 14 on discs 7, 8 to prevent leakage. An injector duct 22, Fig. 4, which enters the nozzle 12 near the inlet thereof may form an ejector for a second fluid f which is driven by the fluid F leaving the volute and mixed therewith in the nozzle.
