Abstract
594,538. Centrifugal pumps. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and FORSLING, B. E. G. Sept. 18, 1944, No. 17777. Drawings-to Specification. [Class 110 (i)] The shape of the vanes of a centrifugal compressor is determined by the surface generated by a line radial to and moving along the axis and keeping contact with a guiding line, which approximates to a flow line and may be the outer boundary of the vane and lies in a plane making an angle of between 70 and 40 degrees with the axis. The guiding line may be straight or curved with a radius of curvature large compared with the depth of the vane. The number of vanes is such that the width of the passage between two vanes increases from inlet to exit with an angle of divergence between 5 and 12 degrees. Specifications 279,426, [Class 110 (i)], and 594,537 are referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 586,835.
