Abstract
606,127. Centrifugal blowers. BENDIX AVIATION CORPORATION. Aug. 29, 1945, No. 22284. Convention date, Oct. 30, 1944. [Class 110 (i)] The inner surface of the casing of a blower and the adjacent portion of the radiallyvaned impeller have recessed, laterally curved channels which together form a fluid conduit around the impeller decreasing in crosssectional area 'from inlet to outlet. The outlet is situated about seven-eighths of a revolution after the inlet. The air moves spirally in its passage from inlet to outlet, coming repeatedly under the action of the impeller vanes. In one form, Figs. 1 and 2, the impeller 22 wipes across an arcuate face 18 of the casing 10 to provide sealing between the inlet 12 and outlet 14. Fig. 5 shows an alternative form and is a section taken in two planes containing the inlet 124 and outlet 126 respectively. The fluid conduit contains a core 128 which increases in cross-sectional area from inlet to outlet.
