Abstract

948,169. Ventilators. MARKFIELD AIR CONDITIONING INSTALLATIONS Ltd. Feb. 28, 1962 [Feb. 28, 1961], No. 7368/61. Heading F4V. [Also in Division F1] Air or other fluid extraction apparatus comprises a pair of fluid pumps communicating through separate outlets with a common fluid outlet and a valve comprising a single hinged flap which is movable such that substantially the whole flap obturates either one of the separate outlets and then forms part of the wall of the fluid passage extending from the other separate outlet to the common outlet. In the ventilating apparatus shown, a casing 1 contains a pair of vaned drum air impellers 18, 19 (one operative and one standby) which have side inlet apertures 20, 21 and separate tangential outlets 5, 6 leading to common outlet duct 8. The counterweighted flap 10 is pivoted on trunnions 11 and is moved by the air pressure of the operative impeller so as to close the outlet of the standby impeller. The casing is suspended by a V-shaped frame 16, 17 in an outer rectangular casing 29 having an air inlet 41 and an outlet 32. The outlet is connected to the duct 8 by a flexible tube 34 and covered by a cowl 37.
