Abstract
751,498. Centrifugal pumps. ASK, E. J. Jan. 12, 1954 [Jan. 17, 1953], No. 897/54. Class 110(1) A centrifugal pump comprises an impeller 1, Fig. 3, provided with centrifugal pumping vanes 2 which have peripheral portions 4 which impart to the fluid as it leaves the impeller a movement along the axis of the impeller. the portions 4 having discharge edges 15 which are substantially radial to the axis. Each portion 4 forms an inclined surface 14 on which the fluid flows as it leaves the discharge .edge 15 of the preceding portion 4. The fluid leaving the impeller, passes through an annular passage 12, Fig. 4, in the pump chamber 5 leading to the outlet 7. The passage 12 is blocked over part of its circumference by a wall 6 which arrests the tangential component of the fluid flow.
