Abstract

240,387. Day, C. May 12, 1925. Rotary-tube pumps. -A centrifugal pump for liquid carrying solid matter in suspension comprises a volute casing 3 with a tangential outlet 4, and an impeller 2 carried at the end of a spindle 5 having a bearing in the casing, the impeller having an axial inlet 6 opening into a single port 7 extending across the impeller to diametrically opposite points on its periphery, and so that the halves of the impeller on opposite sides of the port are symmetrical, the port being free from obstruction or ledges on which solid matter can lodge.
