1,116,817. Centrifugal and axial-flow pumps. EMILE EGGER & CO. A.G. July 6, 1965 [July 14, 1964; Nov. 28, 1964], No.28503/65. Heading F1C. A pump has a casing with an inlet 1, an outlet 3 and an opening 5 arranged opposite the inlet. The opening is large enough to permit assembly of an insert 10 and an impeller 14, the insert, cooperating with the casing to define an annular flow space 8 of substantially circular crosssection. The insert, the impeller and a cover 18 may be replaced by corresponding parts of different design to alter the operating characteristics of the pump. For example, the impeller may instead be of the mixed-flow type or have radial divergent flow passages therein, or the impeller may be of the axial-flow type arranged within an insert to delivery through flow passages in the insert to the flow space 8. In the latter case the insert and cover are integral. In all embodiments, the flow is discharged into the flow space 8 at the side thereof remote from the pump inlet.
