1311295 Centrifugal pumps H WERNERT & CO KG 3 Aug 1970 [16 Sept 1969j 37366/70 Heading F1C In a centrifugal pump in which components contacted by the pumped medium are of material which resists attack by chemicals, an impeller housing 12 substantially in the form of a short cylinder which is open at least at one end is inserted into a side opening of a one-piece outer casing 4 of cast iron. A shoulder 25 on the housing 12 co-operates with a complementary shoulder on the outer casing 4 to locate the housing radially, while a screw 26 engaging a bore in the housing locates it circumferentially. Axial location is provided by segmental members 14 which are inserted into an annular groove 15 and hook over studs 10 which receive the flange of an inlet pipe (not shown). A unit 8 comprising a bearing assembly 6 secured by studs 22 to a flange 5, a cover plate 23 and an impeller 24 is attached to the outer casing 4 by studs (27), Fig. 1 (not shown). Before the flanged outlet pipe (not shown) is secured to the outer casing 4 by studs 11, a ring 19 is inserted to protect the outer casing from the chemical being pumped. The ring 19, impeller 24, impeller housing 12 and cover plate 23 are of material resistant to chemicals.
