Abstract
333,443. Ash Co. (London), Ltd., (Allen, F. B.). Oct. 2, 1929. Casings.-A removable tongue 8 is arranged in the discharge pipe of a centrifugal pump to form a passage of any required size between its end 16 and the ends of the impeller blades. The tongue which is carried by an annular member 12 and is adjustable lengthwise of the throat, is curved in cross section as shown in Fig. 3 so that the surface 14 forms part of the circular opening in the discharge pipe. At its end 16, the tongue is concentric with the periphery of the impeller and is thickened at 18 to form a shoulder which bears against the casing. With the enclosed type of impeller the blades stop short of the edges of the disc to allow of the end 16 of the tongue to pass between the discs.
