Combined flow type; blades. - The blades of turbines are composite, one part a, Fig. 3, acting centrifugally to feed an outer or rear part b which acts as the operative to part of the blade, and the fluid escaping axially. There may be several complete sets of compound blades with guide-blades between each set. The blades may be stepped or smooth, and the edges may be straight, curved, or fluted.
